New add-ons to expect include a dramatic styling, an iconic nameplate, an aluminum body construction, an all-new, two-seat, mid-engine hybrid sports cars, and a V6 hybrid powerplant that offers in excess of 500 hp.

It has been almost four years now since the 2017 Acura NSX began its comeback to the collective automotive consciousness during the Detroit motor show, when the brand unmasked what the next-gen supercar will look like. Later, a commercial starring Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld signaled Acura’s promise of bracing its production version and a halo supercar that ultimately debuted earlier this year.

For 2017, the vehicle comes built on the steel and aluminum frame with a carbon-fiber floor insert. The body panels are made of a fiberglass-like composite and aluminum composite. This light-body shell, according to Acura, should help leverage the mass of the electric and hybrid components though the curb weight hasn’t been made public by Acura. The engineers say that the vehicle comes with a lowered center of gravity that should bode well for handling, however, we are yet to confirm the proclamations.

Price & 2017 Acura NSX Release Date

Acura hasn’t announced a revised on-sale date, after a development delay, but industry pundits claim its release date shouldn’t come before the Spring of 2016.

As for the sticker price, expect the vehicle to come featuring an MSRP starting from $150,000, which is about what other vehicles in the same segment go for. Some of its rivals include 2016 Porsche 911 and 2016 Audi R8 V10.

Engine Specs – 2017 Acura NSX

Just like the prior model, the new 2017 Acura NSX comes with a lowered center of gravity available as a two-seater. However, the new 2017 model will use a twin turbocharged direct injected V6 that powers the aft wheels via the dual-clutch nine-speed transmission system. A lithium-ion battery and three electric motors augment the V6.

Seating between the transmission and the engine is one of the motors, and provides an initial torque surge and regenerative braking before the turbos get up to full throttle. Also, it aides to quicken the gearchanges by slowing or spiking the engine via the shifts. The rest of the engines drive the front wheels and are mounted up front.

However, there is no connection between the front wheels and the V6, which naturally should enable the fore wheels a laudable degree of liberation from each other and even the rear. As the setup stands, it promises precise response and handling, but will have to be aided by the mini supercomputers that need to work in synergy to get it right.

No announcements have been made by Acura about the new engine’s specs yet. However, the V6 promises to deliver about 500 horsepower, while the addition of the electric power from the 2WD should add it up to about 550 horsepower, an output that stands well above what today’s elite sports cars generate.

Though we haven’t confirmed, the new 2017 Acura NSX will have a top speed of 190 mph and will hustle from 0-60 mph in just 2.7 seconds. We will schedule our test drive as soon as we get the invitation to do so, so keep checking for future updates.

Unfortunately, the EPA fuel economy mpg ratings aren’t available yet, but we expect the details to start trickling down soon.
