The new 2017 Chevrolet SS comes with a remarkable capable handling, thrilling V8 performance, an available manual transmission system, a well-equipped interior with passenger space, and powerful brakes. Its release date is speculated to occur in the middle of 2017.
For 2017, the SS appeals with its upscale technologies and performance and not to mention the available six-speed manual transmission system and adaptive suspension dampers. It comes based on the existing Commodore VF platform and shares some features with its warmed-over G8 GXP brethren.
As such, the SS sedan comes with a smoother ride, revamped interior and exterior surfaces, and offers precision dynamics. However, things remain as before under its hood with the vehicle coming equipped with 6.2L V8 powerplant, which isn’t a bad thing considering the same engine was equipped in the previous-generation Corvette.
As much as the SS may appear to impress, and don’t get me wrong it does, the segment offers a couple of matching or even better alternatives worth considering before finally bowling to the SS. They include 2017 Dodge Charger, 2017 Chevrolet’s own Corvette, and 2017 Taurus SHO.

Engine Specs – 2017 Chevrolet SS
Just as before, we should expect the new 2017 Chevrolet SS to come equipped with a high-performance version of the 6.2L V8 engine which is rated at 420 hp and 420 pounds of torque. The standard transmission system is either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.
During our test-driving, an auto-equipped 2015 SS was able to dash to 60mph from standstill in just 4.9 seconds.
The fuel economy ratings for the automatic as per EPA stands at 14/21/17 mpg in the city/highway/combined, and 15/21/17 mpg for the manual. Although unexpected in this segment, the ratings point to a rather thirsty SS.
