Every 2017 Dodge Durango, except for the R/T, comes fitted with a 3.6L V6 engine rated at 290 horsepower and 260 pounds of torque. You get an extra 5 horsepower when you opt for the Citadel trim or Blacktop or Rallye packages. A rear wheel drive is standard, as is the eight-speed automatic transmission system.
When properly equipped, users can expect an impressive maximum towing capacity of 6,200 pounds. During our own testing, the V6-powered rear-wheel-drive was able to hit 60 mph in 7.8 seconds, and 8.1 seconds with the all-wheel-drive version.
The high-performance R/T model comes equipped with a 5.7L diesel V8 engine rated at 360 horsepower and 390 pounds of torque under its hood. Just as the above trims, both the rear-wheel-drive and an eight-speed auto transmission system are standard.
