The new 2017 Fiat 500X offers lots of strengths necessary to elbow its way to the top of the class. They include top safety features, an affordable widow sticker, easy-to-use tech controls, distinctive and well-appointed cabin, nimble driving manners, thrifty fuel economy ratings, and decent interior space, among others. Its date of release should be expected in March 2017.
With all the above combined with an Italian flair, you’ll find the pintsize 500X a favorable choice in the quickly expanding subcompact crossover segment. For starters, Fiat returned to the U.S four years ago with the 500 model which was rich in character but low in terms of utility. And after a lot of consultations, the 500L model was birthed. It offered better space and utilities but fell short on many areas which its fans were unsatisfactory.
But with the new Fiat 500X model, there was a bit of optimism although it still lacks some elements. It is a vehicle that can be likened to the 500 but with more character, personality, an elevated driving position, more total interior room, and enhanced traction. Even so, it is a better release from Fiat and will undoubtedly offer its rivals a run for their money once it is released.
Exterior, the 500X comes with an elevated driving position, and a dose of exterior design machismo. Interior wise, the materials are upscale even for its base model. Chrysler’s version of Uconnect touchscreen interface, for instance is offered not as an option but a standard feature on the top-of-the-line trim.
Other features you’d expect to get in luxury-themed vehicles include a forward collision warning system, a lane-departure mitigation and warning system, blind-spot monitoring system, and heated steering wheel.
We are however less impressed by the firm ride, meagre cargo room, clunky automatic transmission system, and so-so fuel economy. In all fairness, the 2017 Fiat 500X is certainly a descent entry-level subcompact crossover SUV, but we have found some of its rivals better. They include the 2017 Mazda CX-3, the 2017 Honda HR-V, the 2017 Kia Soul, and the 2017 Jeep Renegade.
