It seems like the all-new 2017 Ford GT – an ultra-high performance supercar that showcases the best in lightweight carbon fiber construction, aerodynamics, and top EcoBoost performance is finally knocking on our doors. It is one among the new twelve new Ford Performance vehicles set to debut into the market by 2020. The list includes vehicles such as Shelby GT350R, Shelby GT350, Focus RS, and the F-150 Raptor. Below is a comprehensive Ford GT review that includes its price, release date, exterior and interior designs, and engine specifications. So, keep reading on.
Ford is arguably one brand that places innovation into every part of their business. Remember Mark Field’s remark after Henry Ford’s win of a 1901 car race? If you don’t, here’s what he had to say, “It’s worth remembering that our first innovation was on the track and not in a laboratory. We inculcate innovation into every inch of our business, and is through this innovation that makes us create vehicles that make people’s hearts pound through performance.”
That said, the all-new Ford GT is a two-door coupe available in a rear-wheel drive, and a sleek and aerodynamic body shell with a centrally placed engine. It derives its power from a 600-horsepower – generating twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine that is set to place it at the top of the performance charts.
Handling, acceleration, and efficiency is outstanding thanks to extensive use of top technological features, and lightweight materials such as aluminum and carbon fiber. It is clearly evident that the new Ford GT is a manifestation of just how much Ford is committed in offering upscale technologies only available in elite vehicles. Just to name but a few, such as the latest version of Ford’s advanced connectivity – the Sync 3, and advanced active aerodynamics, such as a deployable rear spoiler.
According to Ford group vice president, Global Product Development – Raj Nair, “The all-new 2017 Ford GT is the ultimate dream of a supercar enthusiast. Technologies and innovations that are included in the Ford GT can be applied across all Ford’s future product spectrum – another pointer that shows just how far Ford is willing to go in order to give its consumers the ultimate performance bundled in one technologically advanced package.”
2017 Ford GT Release Date & Price
We’re still awaiting Ford’s official announcement regarding the Ford GT price at the moment. But according to Dave Pericak, Ford Performance boss, the model will command a starting price starting from around $400,000. Only 250 units will be offered for sale. Given its performance and pricing, the model will face competition from supercars such as Lamborghini Huracan, and Chevrolet Corvette Zora ZR1.
We should expect its release date sometime in mid-2017, at least according to Pericak.
2017 Ford GT Exterior Pictures
Relative to its older siblings, the new 2017 Ford GT is instantly recognizable. It gets a menacing and memorable look from the signature sloped GT nose with dual ducts upfront and the mid-engine design that lends itself to a long wedge shape. around back, the new GT gains features such as flying buttress wings, crisp cuts near the taillights, and round hips that look more modern than past GTs. The flying buttress wings, just to single them out, aren’t just designed to offer the car modern aesthetics, but are so designed in order to give the car an extra downforce. Other features include an aggressive rear diffuser and a set of canon exhaust outlets.
It is also more aerodynamic, sleek, and has a less open and wide greenhouse than the models preceding it. The GT elegant upward-swinging doors make it easier for passengers to ingress and egress the cockpit.
2017 Ford GT Interior Spy Photos
Befitting such a purposeful machine is the GT’s cockpit that has been optimized for easier usability and control. Control buttons aren’t clattered all over but instead are arranged in a driver-centric manner. Some of the notable interior features include a configurable display and instrument cluster, and an F1 steering wheel. More details on the interior will be offered on its release date.
It is unlikely that the Ford GT will be offered in multiple trim models, at the moment however, it’d be judicious if we adopt a “wait-n-see” approach.
As previously mentioned, the new 2017 Ford GT will come equipped with a new 3.5L EcoBoost V6 capable of making a whopping 600 horsepower – able to make it spring from 0-60 mph in just under 4.0 seconds, and a top speed in the range of 200mph.
With the Ford GT 2017 price tag starting from $400,000, it is only logical to assume that it’ll come with futuristic safety technologies the supercar segment is yet to see – maybe an overstatement, but the fact remains it’ll come equipped with the best technologies for occupant safety.
