The new 2017 Jeep Renegade is certainly one of the few models from Jeep that has actually embraced a styling and playfulness evolution. It’s practical and rewarding to drive. Some of its attributed include easy-to-use technology interface, lots of character, and best-in-class off-road capability. Its release date should be expected during the 3rd Q of 2017.
The 2017 Renegade will for the first time come equipped with a nifty removable cargo light on both the Trailhawk and Limited trims, new automatic wipers, and a new premium audio option.
When the vehicle debuted two years ago, some Jeep critics and enthusiasts were quick to air their concerns on whether the badge of a manufacturer built on a reputation of unquestionable off-road capability could be worn by a subcompact crossover. The skepticism was further fuelled by the fact that Jeep has a reputation of building underwhelming small crossovers like the Patriot and Compass.
But with a long-term Renegade Trailhawk in our fleet and several road tests under our belts, we can therefore conclude that those fears are unfounded. The Jeep Renegade for 2017 is an excellent subcompact crossover that comes with an off-road athleticism, an easy and fun to drive character, and a fairly comfortable cabin.
However, the Renegade disappoints on several fronts including but not limited to a middling fuel economy rating, intrusive wind noise, clunky and confused automatic transmission system, limited cargo capacity, and tight rear-seat legroom. Well, if you can’t live with this shortcomings, there are several other options worth considering. They include the 2017 Honda HR-V, the 2017 Fiat 500X, the 2017 Subaru Crosstrek, and the 2017 Mazda CX-3.
