Even at a distant and with all that camouflage on its skin, the new Alfieri’s design reestablishes Maserati’s orientation towards racing heritage and unique tradition in exotic GT cars. It is sleek, full of Italian style just like the 1969 Indy, 1959 5000 GT, and the 1957 3500 GT before it, and clearly demonstrates what Maserati is all about.

“Maserati is always Maserati, nothing changes,” said Ramaciotti. Indeed, the dimensions are certainly a hint at the brand’s stylistic intentions for the new future, and might well be archetypal for a future Gran Sport. It is also sportier than the GranTurismo. Well, just like every brand’s strong desire to convert a concept into a reality 100%, Maserati seems to have nailed it. This is however speculative at the moment, as we’re yet to confirm the exact designs of the heavily guised prototype.

According to Maserati, the source of inspiration to build the Alfieri came from the Maserati A6 GCS-53 that was designed in 1954 by PininFarina. The car was a masterpiece of design then, and was the last one to be designed by PininFarina before emerging once again in the twenty-first century with the GranTurismo and the Quattroporte. The breathtaking design features and proportions of the A6 GCS-53 made it an iconic piece of automotive technology: long, sinuous wings extended all the way to the aft wheels, an outwardly endless bonnet, and a diminutive cabin positioned almost at the rear.

With that in mind, Maserati aims to once again rewrite history with the new Maserati Alfieri 2017, just like it did with the A6 GCS-53 model back in the ‘50s. The Alfieri, according to recent news will be forceful but understated, aggressive yet subtle in style.

See, once available, the new model will take aim at the 2017 Porsche 911 and the 2017 Jaguar F-Type. It’ll use the same platform as the Maserati Ghibli and the Quattroporte, but with a slight revolution in the exterior and interior design language.

This is what we think of the exterior design according to the concept. In stark contrast to other contemporary Maserati models, it comes with a long, low nose. The grille seems to float on the air courtesy of the two concave sections that divide it vertically. The characteristic brow render the aggressive headlights that come with bi-xenon LED bulbs. The characteristic brow is also present on the twin tailpipes.

Around back, there are white elements in the center of the red external elements of the three-dimensional taillights. The shape of the taillights follows the rear shoulder harmoniously and creates an impressive, racing style complemented by the air ducts beneath.

In overall, buyers can expect an eye-catching silhouette that can almost entice you to caress it in passion given the way Alfieri’s designers developed finely-integrated, uncluttered form of the restyled air ducts on the wheel arches that form a decorative masterpiece.
