The new 2017 McLaren 650S has more power, stunning performance, and updated looks. It comes riding on the same platform as the MP4-12C, meaning you get a thrilling speed, connected driving feel, responsive steering, and precision handling. The McLaren 650S release date should be expected sometime towards the end of 2017 or early the following year.

What McLaren has done here is simply impressive. It has only improved on an already amazing vehicle and the results of that are incredible. The familiar 3.8L turbocharged engine offered in the existing model is still going to be offered in the new model, only this time round, the power has been boosted to around 641 horsepower.

The exterior is more menacing than before, the headlights and taillights are chiseled and look contemporary than before. McLaren says the body panels have been constructed mainly out of aluminum and carbon fiber and this has contributed to the loss of weight. The driving experience hasn’t changed a bit, so users should expect the same kind of refined ride quality as before.

To McLaren nameplate’s credit, the 650S interior is finely crafted and makes use of fine materials on interior surfaces. To this end, McLaren hasn’t shared much of what we should expect, and most of the 650S specs remain covert.

For those who don’t find the McLaren 650S startling, there are a few impressive rivals to choose from. Both the Ferrari 458 Italia and the Lamborghini Huracan offer a vastly similar performance. The Huracan, for instance, price starts from an MSRP of around $237,250, and offers appealing noises, ferocious acceleration, and an intelligent all-wheel drive system. The Huracan 0-60 mph takes a blistering 2.8 seconds.

The Ferrari 458 Italia coupe, on the other end, price starts from an MSRP of around $239,340, and offers good looks, powerful engine, and an incredible handling. It is believed the 2017 Ferrari 458 Italia 0-60 will take sub-3.0 seconds, and reach a top speed of about 205 mph.

Some of the standard features available on the base model includes cruise control, satellite radio, a six-speaker sound system, three driving modes, heated and ventilated seats, LED foglights and headlights, twenty-inch rear wheels and nineteen-inch front wheels, a seven-inch touchscreen display, a manual tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, adaptive suspension system, heated and power-folding mirrors, smartphone app integration, Meridian sound system, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, and a navigation system.

There are endless list of options available, as is typical of most cars in its price range. Options here include special color brake calipers, one-piece racing seats, a sport exhaust, an upgraded Meridian sound system, driver memory seats, carbon fiber aero and body panels, a height-adjustable suspension system, lightweight wheels, and an upgraded upholstery.

McLaren 650S Engine Specs

Under the hood of the McLaren 650S 2017 is a twin-turbocharged 3.8L V8 engine rated at 641 horsepower and 500 lbs. ft. of torque. The power is then transmitted to the wheels via the dual-clutch seven-speed automated manual transmission system.

The McLaren 650S 0-60 is estimated by McLaren to take a blistering 2.9 seconds.

Both the McLaren 650S Spyder and coupe are rated at 16/22/18 mpg in the city/highway/combined.
