New 2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe Release Date and Review

2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe review

The new 2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe offers even more visual and technical distinctiveness than the outgoing model. The changes for the new model are evident at first sight especially the technical modifications that are far reaching. Some of the redesigns include larger wheels, an increased footprint, and strikingly flared front and rear wheel arches. All these features combined give the AMG-C63 Coupe a muscular look while at the same time providing highly lateral dynamics, and agile longitudinal basis. The release date and price estimates are covered below, so keep reading on.

In addition to the myriad of changes available on both the exterior and interior of the coupe, the “Driving performance” is taken a notch higher with the available 4.0L V8 engine beneath the hood. Just like the dynamic engine mounts, rear-axle limited-slip differential, AMG DYNAMIC SELECT, and AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension system, the powerful V8 mill is too a completely in-house development. The V8 biturbo engine should be able to yield a whopping 476- or 510 horsepower.

See, the C-Class has traditionally been Mercedes-AMG’s best-selling model. And the introduction of the Coupe five years ago has only served to make the model series the backbone of the company’s success. According to Tobias Moers – Chairman B.O.G Mercedes-AMG GmbH, “The new 2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe offers impressive lateral and longitudinal dynamics at high levels, and therefore embodies our conception of progress. And even with such a high performance, the fuel consumption still remains in check. Consumers can also experience the modern evolutionary path we’ve taken with each of their senses: feeling, seeing, hearing, and superseding all, driving! The Muscular design is also a design masterpiece that makes a bold visual statement.”

The new model fascinates with its impressive proportions even at first glance. While it shares the same boot lid, roof, and door design with the conventional Mercedes-Benz, that is as far as the similarities go. The side walls, engine, front end, and wheel arches are totally different. From the fenders to the rear diffuser, and from the voracious air intakes, the new Mercedes-AMG C63 is expressive of aggression. This unsurprising given its capabilities.

While we particularly loved its predecessor which came fitted with a 6.2L V8 engine behemoth beneath the hood, we find the new model even pleasing thanks to the more powerful twin-turbocharged 4.0L V8 engine offered beneath its hood. As previously mentioned, power from this mill is estimated at 476 horsepower in the AMG C63 coupe and 510 horsepower in the AMG C63 S coupe. With all the crazy stuff going on beneath the hood, AMG says we should expect the model to saunter from 0-60 mph in just under 4.0 seconds. The same source says it’ll hit an electronically-limited time of 155 mph, and 180 mph for the S model.

We can’t say enough when it comes to the 2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe. At the end of the day, the segment isn’t wanting in alternatives. The competition includes Lexus RC F, BMW M4, Audi RS5, and the Cadillac ATS-V – “Angry” cars no doubt! For breathtaking performance, make sure to take your car to the track once in a while.

We’re still far from getting the real pricing figures from AMG. In the meantime though, here’re the estimates from credible sources – $70,000 for the non-S, and $80,000 for the S model. The details are merely speculative at this juncture, we’ll post an update once the real figures suffice.

As regards the release date, a ‘mid-2017’ is most probable.

As you can see from the spy photos here, the new model gets larger wheel arches that allow the use of larger tires, contributing to better lateral agility, traction, and acceleration. Underscoring the muscular appearance are the two distinctive powerdomes that adorn the 60-mm-longer bonnet. The front fascia also gets precisely positioned flics, and large air inlets.
