Treading in the footprints of its 2017 Volvo XC60, Volvo is at it again only this time with the S90 sedan. It is an all-new model that now takes the place of the outgoing S80 Sedan. With flared rear and sharply styled front end quarters, at least going by the concept cues and spy photos, should cut a rather aggressive figure than its predecessor. After all, it is set to compete with the top dogs of this segment such as the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series, and the Audi A6.

Although it won’t be an easy walk in the park, the new Volvo S90 2017 is also a top contender in this class with features such as glacial Swedish looks, an electric hybrid option, and a classy interior. Although the output figures are yet to be confirmed, Volvo says all the mills will revolve around the 2.0L four-cylinder unit and the sedan will come with D4 and D5 diesel drivetrains, T6 and T5 gasoline engine, and the T8 hybrid. The European will have the D4, D5, T6, and T8 options while the T5, T8, and T6 will be available here in the U.S. expect the T5 to churn out 254 horsepower, the T6 around 316 horsepower, D4 – 194 horsepower, D5 – 225 horses, and the T8 Hybrid around 400 horsepower. All these powertrains will be hitched to an eight-speed automatic transmission system. The AWD is an option.
