2017 Audi Q7 Release Date, Specs and Info

The new 2017 Audi Q7 despite showing some grey areas, is expected to be desirable and appealing to new and existing buyers. Some of its highlights for 2017 include a strong and fuel-efficient TDI engine, premium interior, and a sophisticated driving character. Its release date should be expected during the 4th Q of 2016.

Years have come and gone, yet the never aging Audi Q7 continues to stay put. The vehicle known for its premium cabin, upscale driving character, and a performance worth coveting hasn’t aged a day when it comes to offering comfort and convenience ever since its debuted almost nine years ago.

However, with fresh models flooding the segment every year, we find the Q7 difficult to recommend. For clarity, there are certain things we like though. The high-quality build and surfaces, serene ride even at top speeds, nimble handling, and a premium style.

As far as the engines are concerned, you can get up to 28 mpg with the optional TDI diesel-powered V6 engine. And for such a huge vehicle, the Q7 still affords to offer better steering and handling.

Having test-driven the vehicle ourselves, there are certain issues that Audi could have addressed. These include a mediocre performance with the TDI engine, a cramped third row seat, a lackluster fuel economy ratings, and a subpar cargo volume. Also, the acceleration to 60 is just average.

Some of our favorites in the segment include the 2017 Acura MDX, the 2017 Land Rover LR4, the 2017 BMW x5, and the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class.

Available Trims – Audi Q7

The 2017 Q7 just as its predecessor will be offered in a whopping six trims: Premium, TDI Premium, Premium Plus, TDI Premium Plus, S Line Prestige, and TDI Prestige.

An eight-speed auto transmission system relays the output for both vehicles on the four wheels.
During our own test drive, the Premium trim achieved a 0-60 mph acceleration in an unimpressive 6.9 seconds. The estimations for the fuel consumption stand at 16/22/18 mpg in the city/highway/combined.

At the upper end of the luxury niche, there exists two segment of vehicles: those that are best enjoyed from the driver seat and those that are meant to be chauffeured. The new 2017 Bentley Flying Spur falls under the former segment. Although it’s a big sedan, it nevertheless offers an impressive and memorable drive quality almost synonymous to that offered by a sport car.

The new Bentley gives its consumers two engine options – a rarity for the vehicle. The first option (4.0L V8) generates an impressive 500 horsepower, while the other (6.0L W-12) churns out an even more output rated at 616 horsepower. Either engine offers its users an impressive acceleration and responsiveness.

2017 Lincoln MKZ – Release Date, Review and Specs

Although the Lincoln MKZ has been a hard sell compared with more refined entry-level luxury sedan competitors, it offers modern features and a distinctive style. This is particularly true for the 2017 model which, by the look of things, is expected to be a major hit. It offers an eye-catching design, lots of standard features, and a high-fuel economy especially from the Hybrid model. Its release date should be expected sometime in the beginning of 2017.

Not long ago, Lincoln was one of the most sought-after nameplate in the automotive industry especially for the U.S market. However, newer and fresher models have eroded the once revered appeal associated with Lincolns by offering better or matching technologies and features at a favorable pricing. Nevertheless, the brand recently began making concerted efforts in trying to salvage its reputation.

The new 2017 Lincoln MKZ, for instance, is entirely different from Fords – Ford Fusion to be precise, on which they are based. The MKZ now offers a distinctive, sleek styling that is unique to itself only. Even with all the efforts invested in trying to redesign the MKZ, its engine department is pretty much a Fusion. But who’s complaining?

2017 Lincoln MKZ side view, headlights and alloy wheels

Interior wise, the vehicle offers several upscale features such as active noise cancellation, plenty of high-tech safety and luxury features, blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alerts, and plenty of premium surfaces. Even so, there are still some ailing features which may prove detrimental to its image such as an underwhelming interior quality for the base model, a slower than average acceleration, an average interior space, and flimsy dashboard controls.

If you are shopping in the entry-level luxury sedan segment, we’d advise you to check out the 2017 Lexus ES 300h Hybrid or the 2017 Lexus ES 350. They are the real threat to the MKZ, thanks to their plush ride quality, and a well-built interior. Others include the 2017 Audi A4, 2017 Volvo S60, 2017 BMW 3 Series, and the 2017 Acura TLX.

Offered Trims – Lincoln MKZ

Two trims are offered for the 2017 Lincoln MKZ: base and the Black Label. The same trims are offered for the separately reviewed 2017 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid.

Interior Review & 2017 Lincoln MKZ Exterior Changes

The base, also called the Premiere, offers standard accessories and features such as keyless entry and ignition, adaptive suspension dampers, 18” wheels, driver memory settings, automatic dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, eight-way heated powered front seats, adaptive LED headlights, LED taillights, a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, full power accessories, rearview auto-dimming mirrors, a 60/40-split folding rear seats, and a leather upholstery.

Options included in the Select package include a tilt-and-telescopic powered steering wheel, a 110-V power outlet, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, a power closing trunk lid, a blind-spot monitoring system, ambient lighting, a leather upholstery, headlight surround accent lighting, and rear-cross traffic alerts.

The Black Label Series offers everything above plus adaptive cruise control, lane-departure intervention and warning system, 19” wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, an automated parallel parking system, designer wood trimmings, massaging front seats, a rear power sunshade, interior design premium schemes, a special leather upholstery, and exclusive exterior colors.

2017 Lincoln MKZ Engine Specs

Under the hood of the 2017 Lincoln MKZ are three engines offered. The four-cylinder 2.0L turbocharged engine, to begin with, offers 240 hp and 270 lbs. ft. of torque. The power is transferred to either the standard FWD or the optional AWD via the six-speed automatic transmission system.

Next up is the 300 horsepower and 277 pounds-feet of torque – producing 3.7L V6 engine. The engine is paired to a six-speed automatic which then transmits the power to either the FWD or the AWD. The V6 model, according to various preliminary test drives conducted, only requires 6.7 seconds to zoom from 0-60 mph.

2017 Lincoln MKZengine

Although the Hybrid Review is covered elsewhere on the blog, its powerplant consists of a working synergy between an electric motor and a 2.0L four-cylinder engine with the result being an output of about 188 horsepower. The CVT then takes up the power to the FWD (there isn’t an option for an all-wheel drive here).

EPA says the Hybrid should be able to return 41/39/40 mpg in the city/highway/combined. Of course more details such as its top speed, curb weight, more iterations, and etc. should be expected upon its release date.
