The Second-Generation 2019 Audi Q3 Getting Ready for a US Release

The newest, second-generation 2019 Audi Q3 is in the making. This has been confirmed with the newest spy photos as the vehicle has been seen doing rounds and wearing heavy camo which hides some of its newest additions. But it is really noticeable that this is a next-gen Q3 and the prospect of getting one seems really good.

The Audi Q3 made its first debut in 2011, but it was not immediately offered to the North American public. When the model was updated for its 2015 model year it was also the first time that the US fans managed to see and buy the car. Since then, the luxury-oriented high-stance five-door vehicle managed to score great success stateside and singlehandedly managed to raise the popularity of these kinds of cars here. Now with the small SUV being at its all-time high in popularity in the US, giving us a second-gen Q3 is the perfect thing to do.

The model is a few years away from its release date and it could be a bit hard to comprise a whole review about the 2019 Audi Q3 as much of it is still being developed. But with the emergence of the recent spy photos we were able to find out a bunch of new things.

When is the Release Date for the 2019 Audi Q3?

It is a bit early to talk about a release date for the 2019 Audi Q3, but the car will come sooner than we expect it. Now when we know that this model is in the making we can only wait and expect for it to appear. Basing the release date on the current development, it will most likely come out by the end of 2018 or within the first quarter of 2019.

2019 Audi Q3 Potential Price

The price of the 2019 Audi Q3 will be adjusted for the current trends in the US and will also be similarly priced as the current model. The base MSRP price of the outgoing car is $33,700 for the Premium Plus entry level car while the Prestige costs $38,600. The 2019 Q3 will be a bit more than this but not too much.

First Look of the 2019 Audi Q3

Based on the leaked spy photos there is not much to notice about the 2019 Audi Q3. But, since this is an Audi it is more than certain that they might decide to stick to a similar design as with the previous car. The parts that they might decide to keep include sharply designed headlights which come with Xenon bulbs and the addition of LED daytime running lights, the aluminum trim, the trademark Singleframe grille, aspoiler placed on the hatch part, roof rails, and the LED styled taillights. It seems that the design of the exhaust system will be kept the same but this time they plan to integrate them into the rear bumper.

But as it was reported the 2019 Audi Q3 will draw some elements from the rally-based Audi Quattro. This was made public when Audi’s lead designer stated that he was a big fan of this car and that he would look to integrate some of the details and use them for this new car. So we are expecting elements like the flared wheel arches and a rear end which would be pretty much the same as the said car to be included.

It is also not certain how much the Audi Q3 lean towards a coupe will design this time. This will only be known once the camouflage is taken down and we will need to wait a little bit more to see that.

What is Expected from the Interior?

Inside the 2019 Audi Q3 car expect the same kind of immaculate design and fits and finishes. The layout of the cabin should be based on the newest A4, coming with a new steering wheel and less buttons on the dashboard. We will probably see a large touchscreen in the center stack with the Audi’s Virtual Cockpit placed in the gauge cluster.

The interior comes standard with leather upholstery and there is probably going to be a number of different optional colors to choose from. We also expect to see some other technology added like navigation, voice control, Bluetooth connectivity, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

What is Under the Hood?

It is presumed that the US audiences will be using the same powertrains as before for the 2019 Audi Q3. These include a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and a 6-speed automatic transmission, offered with both FWD and AWD. Currently the car makes 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque, but it will not be surprising if the 2019 version gets to be a bit tuned up so it gives us an expanded output.

The car might also come as a diesel option but we are not expecting the 2019 Audi Q3 to be offered in the US with a diesel engine. Another possible option is adding a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder or the RS Q3 trim which will help it go to 400 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of twist, and might go with the Quattro look of the car.

0-60 mph and Top Speed

Depending on what powertrain the 2019 Audi Q3 gets we might get an increase. If they decide to update and provide more power it would also mean a better acceleration for the 2019 Q3 version. But for now it is estimated that the model gets to 0-60 mph in 6.8 seconds while the top speed should remain at 145 mph.

Is There Something About the Fuel Economy?

For now we do not have the necessary specs to determine the fuel economy of the 2019 Audi Q3. But they will probably make some arrangements to tackle this issue. The current model consumes 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway and it is still suitable for the segment. Any improvements would be good for the vehicle.

The 2019 Audi Q3 will Grow in Size

It appears that the 2019 Audi Q3 will have to grow in size. This has been confirmed as the model needs to be slotted between the Q2, which people were able to see at the recent Geneva Auto Show. The new 2019 Q3 will be positioned lower and also be made wider and longer before, with approximately 2 to 2.75 inches added to the length and 2 inches for its width.

The increased dimensions will also add more interior space and also some in the cargo area. The current car offers 16.71 square feet, or 48.2 square feet with the seats folded down, and we see those numbers increasing and getting bigger for the 2019 version.

Keeping the Passengers Safe

We also predict that the2019 Audi Q3 will come with the latest automated and safety technologies. Some that we can probably expect include automatic braking, lane-keep assist, pedestrian monitor, rear cross traffic alert and a blind spot monitor.

Competition Cars

The updated 2019 Audi Q3 might be a very important cars, particularly because the craze for crossover cars in America is very strong. With the rise of popularity of these types of vehicles it will not be easy for this car to get a bigger slice of the American Pie, but based on the popularity that it made with the last model they might hope that the new-generation one brings more sales. The cars which provide the hardest competition are BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class.
