The 2020 Dodge RAM 1500 is a full-size pickup that promises to be top contender in its class thanks to its supple ride quality, useful technology features, an excellent eight-speed automatic transmission system, hush and refined cabin, optional fuel-efficient diesel powerplant, and a well-trimmed cabin. Its release date should be expected sometime in the first half of next year, at least for U.S consumers.
The new RAM 1500 intricately balances comfort, style, and performance with the result being a comfortable ride quality and top performance. Dodge has done a remarkable job evidenced in the well-trimmed cabin to the impressive fuel economy figures posted by the dizzying powerplants offered underneath the hoods.
With such a huge list of likable items on the RAM 1500, it is granted the RAM 1500 will offer its recently redesigned rivals a run for their money. True, it might have received its last redesign seven years ago, but the new model more than makes up for the lost time with its easy-to-use infotainment system, high-quality cabin, re-tweaked front and rear fascias, and a remarkable supple ride.
The RAM 1500 Rebel, for instance, comes with an intimating stance than before. It is now more powerful and boast of latest technological updates. Thanks to the coil-spring rear suspension system, the new model offers its occupants a smooth ride, which reduces the harshness that would otherwise be experienced in mundane road conditions.
The only notable downside to owning the RAM 1500 is its mediocre towing capacity. In overall, though, the new model is still a prime pick regardless of it being considered a grizzled veteran. Rivals you should consider include the Nissan Titan XD, the Chevrolet Silverado, the Ford F-150, and the Toyota Tundra.
2020 Dodge RAM 1500 Engine Specs & Fuel Economy
An eight-speed automatic transmission system is offered as the standard system, as is the rear-wheel drive. The base RAM 1500 is offered with a gasoline 3.6L V6 engine rated at 305 hp and 269 lbs. ft. of torque. The instrument panel offered with this model comes with a rotary knob which aids in controlling the transmission system. The 4×4 drive mode is offered as an option.
Under the hoods of the Sport, Longhorn, and Laramie is a 5.7L V8 engine behemoth hooked to a six-speed auto. It is able to crank out a whopping 395 hp and 410 pounds-feet of torque. You can also opt for the optional eight-speed automatic transmission system.
Zipping from 0-60 mph with the 1500 Sport crew cab needs 7.1 seconds, and 7.9 seconds for the RAM 1500 SLT quad cab.
When we come to the fuel economy ratings, expect the 2WD HFE model to check in with 23/16/19 mpg on the highway/city/combined, and 21/15/17 mpg with the 4WD V8.
Dodge has also provided the Rebel, Express, and Sport trim models with the 3.0L turbocharged EcoDiesel V6 mill good for 240 hp and 420 pounds-feet of torque. EPA says we should expect the HFE EcoDiesel to return about 29/21/24 mpg.
