Its release date should be expected sometime during the second half of next year.

Volkswagen has vastly improve the new Golf, especially in terms of the tech features offered. The base comes fitted with a five-inch touchscreen display, while the rest get MirrorLink, Android Auto, and CarPlay smartphone integration systems. Additionally advanced safety features such as blind-spot monitor with rear-cross traffic alert, lane departure mitigation and warning, a rearview auto-dimming mirror, and automated parallel/perpendicular parking systems have been offered.

Standard accessories and features available for the base Golf include Bluetooth audio and phone connectivity, a telescopic-and-tilt steering wheel, cruise control, 15” alloy wheels, a USB port, auxiliary audio jack, adjustable manual front seats, air conditioning, hill-hold assist, heated mirrors, a 5” touchscreen display, an eight-speaker sound system, a cooled glovebox, full power accessories, and a cloth upholstery.

Upscale equipment and features available for the top trims include an adjustable eight-way power driver seat, 18” wheels, interior LED reading and ambient lighting, a navigation system, 18” alloy wheels, sport front seats, LED daytime running lights, xenon headlights, front and rear parking sensors, forward collision warning and mitigation, adaptive cruise control, rear parking sensors, an automated parallel parking sensors, a rearview auto-dimming mirror, and a blind-spot monitoring.

2020 Volkswagen Golf Engine Specs

Under the hood of the 2020 Volkswagen Golf is a four-cylinder turbocharged 1.8L engine good for 170 horsepower and 199 pounds-feet of torque. This power is then taken up by the standard five-speed manual transmission system to the wheels. You can also opt for the optional six-speed automatic that is exclusive for the S, SE, and SEL models.

EPA projects the automatic-equipped model to return 36/25/29 mpg on the highway/city/combined, and 37/25/30 mpg with the manual.

The Golf SEL, according to Volkswagen should take only 7.8 seconds from a 0-60 mph acceleration. This is slightly slower than the high-performance Golf R with dcc and navigation model, but a bit faster than the Golf R400 model.

As of this writing, the R release date isn’t known, but that for the regular Golf is set for the second half of 2020. The Golf hatchback should be expected to feature an MSRP starting from $18,495.
