With its blend of good looks and stunning performance, the 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT will undoubtedly be a top choice for people shopping for a high-end luxury sports car. It’s simply impossible to ignore a car that brings with it a beautifully crafted interior, responsive handling and steering, powerful new turbocharged V8 engine, and stout brakes. Its date of release should be expected around May 2021.
Every couple of years, there seems to be an automaker bragging of how they’ve managed to crack the “Da Vinci” code that could be able to rival the overhyped Porsche 911.
While they are busy engaging with their enthusiastic fans on social media, the guys at Porsche are probably yawning before embarking on their work to further propel the 911 to sports car domination. But with the 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT nipping at its heels, its time the guys working on the Porsche 911 to start putting in some extra hours.
Touted as the successor to the discontinued SLS AMG, the AMG GT comes with a reduced window sticker and more refined that its predecessor. Although its predecessor was a brawny and temperamental sports car able to chastise even some of the most qualified rally drivers when pushed to the limits, the new Mercedes-AMG GT, as it is commonly referred to by the company, offers a more predictable response, greater driver confidence, and smooth drivability even at top speeds.
That said, you will find it to be a reliable and enjoyable driving companion for everyday driving and occasional speed contests. For starters, the vehicle will come equipped with a 4.0L turbocharged V8 powerplant capable of cranking out a whopping 503 horsepower and 479 lbs. ft. of torque. That is quite some heat which should enable you hit 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. A just like the previous model, the power is transmitted to the rear wheels via the rear-mounted seven-speed manual transaxle automatic. 193 mph is its top speed according to Mercedes.
As you’d expect, the AMG GT interior is packed with cutting-edge technologies that rival the Porsche in almost every facet. Its underbody underpinnings are almost entirely made up of aluminum.in order to suit every driving situation, there are transmission mounts and active motors that vary their stiffness. Furthermore, there is the optional carbon ceramic disc brakes and the variable-ratio power steering that routinely alters based on lateral G-forces and speed.
With those mechanical tidbits in place, the result is a car that stops, steers, and corners like a true sports car. As such, it will be hard to opt for another car within the same price range as the AMG GT. But truth be told, the 2021 Porsche 911 continues to be the epitome of performance and holds the throne when it comes to the sports car dominance. Other alternatives you should consider include the 2021 Audi R8, and the 2021 Chevrolet Corvette Z06.
When it comes to performance and value, the Corvette is hard to beat, while the R8 from Audi offers exotic car looks and a more powerful V10 engine behemoth. In overall, it seems the AMG GT is closing in on the Porsche, but only time will tell.
