You definitely need to stay in Los Angeles if you want to get the real definition of cool cars. If it makes a handsome cut out here, it’ll be worth the stay. The Beverly Hills and Hollywood streets are laden with numerous specimens of extravagant cars including the Corvette. It’s especially notable that the previous generation Corvette didn’t really make a cut, however, the existing generation has quickly evolved and transformed into a common sight in the car-snob capital of the country.

It beats logic as to how a car can get better than the Corvette. The previous model came equipped with a gonzo engine rated at 650 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic transmission system. The Corvette boasts of a sumptuous cabin that’s finally up to snuff, top-notch performance, upscale technologies and cutting edge features.

2017 Chevrolet Corvette exterior front and alloy wheels

Unlike the prior models, the 2017 model has virtually no downsides and terming it an award-winning bargain can be considered appropriate. You can get it in either a soft-top convertible or a removable-roof coupe, with an automatic transmission system or the proper seven-speed manual.

The ‘Vette puts up s strong battlefront against its bogeys. They include the 2017 Porsche 911, 2017 Dodge Viper, 2017 Porsche Boxster and Cayman, and 2017 Nissan GT-R. In our own view, the car snobs of Los Angles and Santa Monica have finally got this one exactly right, the 2017 Chevrolet Corvette is simply awesome.

2017 Chevrolet SS Sedan Release Date, News & Specs

The new 2017 Chevrolet SS comes with a remarkable capable handling, thrilling V8 performance, an available manual transmission system, a well-equipped interior with passenger space, and powerful brakes. Its release date is speculated to occur in the middle of 2017.

For 2017, the SS appeals with its upscale technologies and performance and not to mention the available six-speed manual transmission system and adaptive suspension dampers. It comes based on the existing Commodore VF platform and shares some features with its warmed-over G8 GXP brethren.

As such, the SS sedan comes with a smoother ride, revamped interior and exterior surfaces, and offers precision dynamics. However, things remain as before under its hood with the vehicle coming equipped with 6.2L V8 powerplant, which isn’t a bad thing considering the same engine was equipped in the previous-generation Corvette.

As much as the SS may appear to impress, and don’t get me wrong it does, the segment offers a couple of matching or even better alternatives worth considering before finally bowling to the SS. They include 2017 Dodge Charger, 2017 Chevrolet’s own Corvette, and 2017 Taurus SHO.

Chevrolet SS – Available Trims

The redesigned 2017 Chevrolet SS, just as before, is available in a single well-equipped trim.

Exterior measurements: width – 74.7”, height – 57.9”, length – 195.5”, and wheelbase – 114.8”. its curb weight stands at 3975 pounds.

Interior wise, the interior design is subdued, however, the leather upholstered cabin is further complemented by the simulated suede inserts and contrast stitching on the dashboard and doors. Additionally, the instrument panel comes sporting two sporty analogue gauges and a color trip computer.

Engine Specs – 2017 Chevrolet SS

Just as before, we should expect the new 2017 Chevrolet SS to come equipped with a high-performance version of the 6.2L V8 engine which is rated at 420 hp and 420 pounds of torque. The standard transmission system is either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.

During our test-driving, an auto-equipped 2015 SS was able to dash to 60mph from standstill in just 4.9 seconds.

The fuel economy ratings for the automatic as per EPA stands at 14/21/17 mpg in the city/highway/combined, and 15/21/17 mpg for the manual. Although unexpected in this segment, the ratings point to a rather thirsty SS.

2017 Chevrolet Volt Release Date and Info

The new Chevrolet Volt for 2017 gains a plethora of new changes including exterior revitalization and under its hood. With added features and power, the new Volt isn’t offering any clues for disappointment. Its release date has been earmarked for next year.

Some of the pros include a low fuel cost, an improved touchscreen interface, improved all-electric range, and new standard features for its base model. For 2017, the new Chevy Volt comes with several highlights including but not limited to: five-passenger capacity, a new driver infotainment system, an improved hybrid drive system, and updated controls layout.

We can all remember the reason why the new Volt was first developed: in order to offer an alternative to the all-electric vehicles. With that in mind, Volt gave owners the opportunity to drive in town without the worry of running out of electricity as it combines electric and gasoline power. When driving on electric power alone, the Volt can offer an impressive 35 miles.

The concept was loved and admired by many, who at the time, were still skeptical of the idea especially once it hits production stage. For 2017, however, things have improved and the electric range is no longer the main focus. The Volt gets a new body structure and design to along with it. It now offers a new design dissimilar to the previous generation.

Volt Z-Spec Concept

The hybrid credentials have now been inculcated more. Under the hood, Chevy says that running on electric power alone should give you a range of up to 53 miles, which represents a total of 25 percent improvement over the previous year.

For most people who commute to work, that would be just enough to cover most of the distance. And now, the Volt gets a fresh 1.5L gasoline engine that kicks in whenever the all-electric power has been depleted. The gasoline engine, just like the electric power, has been improved by an impressive 13 percent.

Engine matters aside, the new 2017 Volt also comes with a retuned suspension and newer dashboard controls that give it a contemporary look. The unresponsive buttons and dashboard controls have been done away with.

Other alternatives in the market include: the 2017 Ford C-Max Energi hatchback which provides more interior space that the Volt and could be a better alternative if space is atop of your priorities; 2017 BMW i3, and Ford Fusion Energi sedan.

Available Trims – Chevrolet Volt

The new 2017 Chevrolet Volt is available in two trims: LT and Premiere.

However, there are some exceptions, for instance, the gasoline engine kicks in whenever the vehicle is climbing steep hills and for overall performance.

The suspension tuning comes with up to four modes: Normal, Mountain Drive, Sport, and Hold. Recharging will require you to either use the 120-V outlet or the 240-V charging station. The recharging can also occur whenever the Volt is in motion.
