2017 Infiniti Q70 Release Date, Info & Specs

The new 2017 Infiniti Q70 falls short of our expectations and doesn’t come with the standard set by other leading midsize luxury sedans in the segment. Some of the defining features for the fresh Q70 include strong crash-test scores, plenty of high-tech safety features, and an admirable fuel economy. Its release date should be expected sometime during the 4th Q of 2016.

Apart from a few changes, the new Infiniti Q70 returns unchanged.

Despite previous efforts of changing its nameplate, the model appears to be showing some greying areas. Some of the ageing features are well pronounced from the feature content and refinement which have fallen from the previous grace. However, it still offers a long-wheelbase variant which, at least, sets it apart from the crowded segment.

The long-wheelbase version which is commonly referred to as the Q70l adds up to 5.9” of additional rear legroom. With such an impressive legroom, it might prove to be a cost effective alternative to large sedans like the 2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Surprisingly, though, the vehicle lacks the extra seat accoutrements that are mostly needed to make it compete effectively with the luxury-themed Mercedes S-Class sedan. Things are a bit lively under the hood of the Q70, as the vehicle comes with a 3.7L V6 engine rated at an impressive 330 hp. Wait! Although the engine suggests an impressive output, the vehicle doesn’t ride and feel energetic.

Fortunately, for those bored with the long list of disappointing Q70 features there is, hopefully, an alternative galore. Some of them include the 2017 BMW 5 Series, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, 2017 Cadillac CT6, and the 2017 Jaguar XF.

Available Trims – Infiniti Q70

The five-passenger 2017 Infiniti Q70 is available in just two trims: a 3.7 (V6) and a 5.6 (V8) engine. Both of which are further available in long-wheelbase Q70l form. You can find the Q70 Hybrid in a separate review.

2017 Infiniti QX30 auto show, side view, alloy wheels

Inasmuch as we have referred the 2017 QX30 as a hatchback, Infiniti says that the new model is in fact a fusion of crossover, coupe, and hatchback body styles. If you ask me, I’d say Infiniti is hedging its bets in the upcoming five-door luxury compact segment, which is still reeling from uncertainty. It’ll be interesting to see how that goes for Infinity in the long run.

With its prominent headlights, sculpted sides, low and angular rooflines, and long hood, the vehicle under review compares similarly to the outlandishly-styled Nissan Juke. Despite its meager dimensions, the new model offers moderate off-highway ability, a higher driving position, and a reasonable ground clearance.

The new model stays true to the original QX30 Concept design that boasts of elegant ad powerful design cues. The design-led approach to product development is also exemplified by the unique asymmetric cabin and crossover stance design. Furthermore, the Infiniti QX30 2017 is able to maneuver comfortably in suburban, urban, and winding rural roads thanks to the intelligent all-wheel drive system, versatile attitude, inspiring handling, and the aforementioned ride height elevation.

Just like the Infiniti QX30 Concept design that was unveiled during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the new model creates a striking visual impact thanks to the combination of the crossover appearance, elevated stance, and a low-slung roofline. The design results in a premium-look, which to begin with, was Infiniti’s main objective.

Under the hood, the new 2017 Infiniti QX30 will come equipped with a 208-horsepower – generating 2.0L four-cylinder turbocharged engine that Infiniti borrowed from the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class. An intelligent AWD system is available, as is a seven-speed automatic transmission system.

Based on the pricing structure alone, the new 2017 Infiniti QX30 will be up against rivals such as the 2017 Lexus NX 200t, Buick Encore, Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, Audi Q3, and the Mini Cooper Countryman.

2017 Infiniti QX30 Release Date & Price

2017 Infiniti QX30 release date

Pricing info is still under wraps at least as at the time of this review writing. Nevertheless, those in the know claim the new model will be offered for an MSRP starting from around $32,000 for the base model and up to $40k for the well-equipped model. As regards the 2017 QX30, expect the vehicle to go for sale sometime in the second quarter of 2017.

2017 Infiniti QX30 Exterior

2017 Infiniti QX30front angle, headlights and grille

As already mentioned above, the new QX30 2017 comes with the same design cues that were highlighted on the 2015 Geneva Motor Show QX30 concept. It perfectly balances striking aesthetic elements with a low-slung roofline and an elevated stance. This exterior expression added to other distinctive features such as an intelligent all-wheel drive system and around 7-inches of ground clearance give it a “go-anywhere” attitude without making any concessions on the finish and refinement of the whole vehicle.

The QX30 also an emotional creation courtesy of the turbulent, sculpted character lines, and dramatic curves that endow its exterior design. Up front, the overall design gets an organic shape thanks to the double-arch grille that joins the headlamps via the flowing, fluid link. The contents of the color palette are offered on the specifications area.

New 2017 Infiniti QX60 – Release Date and Info

With ample passenger room, user-friendly electronics interface, hush and smooth ride, impressive feature and technology, a classy interior design, the new 2017 Infiniti QX60 is an ideal choice for a family-oriented, seven-passenger luxury crossover SUV. Its release date should be expected in the latter half of 2017.

The three-row 2017 Infiniti QX60 luxury crossover is certainly a family-centered vehicle just by looking what it offers. There is plenty of room for both growing children and adults in all the three rows, and the passenger comfort is taken a notch higher with the reclining and sliding feature available for the second-row seats.

Additionally, we’ve found the interior to be exceedingly comfortable with lots of infotainment and convenient features, and soft-touch materials with the latter also doubling up as a sound-reducing feature, therefore making the ride quality serene as much as possible. Throw in a competitive price tag and you’ve got yourself a vehicle that offers value for the money.

2017 Infiniti QX60 rear view, taillights and alloy wheels

There are several flaws we have noted, nonetheless. They include the mediocre fuel economy estimates, so-so handling and steering, and a sluggish ride quality. The CVT, additionally, produces an uninspiring and noisy acceleration. And even with Infiniti boasting solid fuel consumption ratings for the base engine, the same is difficult to achieve in real-world tests.

Hopefully, there are tons of other excellent three-row crossovers in the segment for those who find the faults inexcusable. They include the 2017 BMW X5 and the 2017 Acura MDX. Both offer an engaging character, excellent exterior and interior, powerful engines, and a pretty sporty attitude.

The 2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid features Infiniti Direct Response Hybrid® one-motor/two-clutch system adapted to front-wheel drive/all-wheel drive.

Others include the 2017 Audi Q7 and the 2017 Buick Enclave. That said, we still think the 2017 Infiniti QX60 is an appealing choice for those looking for a comfy, family-oriented crossover.
