2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Release Date and Specs

The new 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited offers tons of reasons as to why it should appear on your short shopping list, however, there are also significant foibles that you should be weary of too. It is characterful, engaging, capable off-roader, and a downright all-American SUV. Furthermore, the new model boasts of unique features such as its seriousness in off-roading, fun-to-drive character, and an unmistakable styling. Here in this review you get an all-rounded approach to anything that pertains the Wrangler Unlimited such as its release date, price, interior and exterior facets, and specifications for the engine.

But in the midst of all these praise for this unabashedly all-American SUV lurks some negative idiosyncrasies that we think any potential buyer should be weary of before making that order. For one, the new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited offers poor crash test scores. In fact, the government offers the model four stars for overall crash test score for overall crash impact. The ride quality is busy especially on the highway. The convertible operation is cumbersome. And the interior lacks adequate sound deafening materials to insulate the occupants.

While the list of foibles explained above reads like we are talking of a model designed three decades ago, the new 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited isn’t any different from its predecessors. It has continued to thrive in this hot-rod segment that features some of the top dogs in the segment thanks to its illustrious history that revolves around its off-road superiority. In fact, no other vehicle in this class can actually manage to rival its off-road prowess.

Aside from its unstoppable-at-the-trail trait, the Wrangler Unlimited 2017 offers a unique exterior and interior styling. Again, its mechanical underpinnings that are still traditional make it a fun-to-drive vehicle.

When it comes to which powertrain lurks under its hood, Jeep says buyers should expect the familiar 3.6L V6 engine that cranks out a whopping 285 hp and 260 lbs. ft. of torque. Also available is a standard four-wheel-drive system. Fuel economy is rather meagre and stands at 18 mpg in combined highway/city cruising.

When it comes to the available competition, the Wrangler Unlimited enjoys the lack of it. In fact, the only vehicles that it can square it out with include the Toyota FJ, and the Nissan Xterra.

The new 2017 Jeep Renegade is certainly one of the few models from Jeep that has actually embraced a styling and playfulness evolution. It’s practical and rewarding to drive. The 2017 Renegade will for the first time come equipped with a nifty removable cargo light on both the Trailhawk and Limited trims, new automatic wipers, and a new premium audio option.

When the vehicle debuted two years ago, some Jeep critics and enthusiasts were quick to air their concerns on whether the badge of a manufacturer built on a reputation of unquestionable off-road capability could be worn by a subcompact crossover. The skepticism was further fuelled by the fact that Jeep has a reputation of building underwhelming small crossovers like the Patriot and Compass.

But with a long-term Renegade Trailhawk in our fleet and several road tests under our belts, we can therefore conclude that those fears are unfounded. The Jeep Renegade for 2017 is an excellent subcompact crossover that comes with an off-road athleticism, an easy and fun to drive character, and a fairly comfortable cabin.

They include the 2017 Honda HR-V, the 2017 Fiat 500X, the 2017 Subaru Crosstrek, and the 2017 Mazda CX-3.

2019 Jeep Compass

Details about the Release Date of the 2019 Jeep Compass

The comeback of the 2019 Jeep Compass will mark then years after the first model has been released. But this is only the second-generation Compass model and maybe it took them a bit too long to finally release date next gen model, it comes at a very important period.

Jeep is reviving some of its familiar brands and they are doing so in order to rival the companies which have been doing to same. All of the rival automakers have already prepared and came out with a set of vehicles that can be hard to go against. Jeep comes with a new Compass model which has a lot of markets that it can compete in and can boost sales by a very large margin that way.

Jeep should release the upcoming vehicle by middle of 2018. It will most likely still carry a label as a 2019 model. Even though they are already preparing and showcasing it. The first time we were able to see the Compass car was for the Los Angeles Auto Show, when they showcase the vehicle for the first time. It was one of the first presentations which took the public by storm. Everyone was finally relieved to see that the company is bringing this model to us this way.

2019 Jeep Compass Price Details

The prices for the 2019 Jeep Compass have already been released. Luckily, there are many details that are already familiar about the car. The same set of familiar trims will be available and can get them at your respective markets as well. The base trim is still Sport FWD and you can get it for $22,090. Next in line is the Sport 4×4 which you can get for $23,590 while the Latitude 4×4 costs $25,635.

If you go for the Latitude FWD you will then need to pay $25,635. The upper trims still include the Trailhawk and the Limited which goes at $29,690 and $30,090 respectively. These prices will different for other markets, but here in America this is the set that you get.

Rumored Details for the 2019 Jeep Compass

With the expected arrival of the 2019 Jeep Compass, there are a bunch of rumors that emerged. One of them is related to the production of the vehicle. As it stands, this is an international model which will span across various markets across the globe. But as far as the North American market goes, its production will be in Mexico.

So the rumors were shun when this detail was released. And it quickly shows how serious they are in presenting their best Compass to the public. The rumors which initially emerged showed us a lack luster performance on the designer’s part. This brought to many people’s attention an idea that his model is not going to meet the expectations. But so far, this is all not true. The car is on schedule and will arrive by the destined release date.

2019 Jeep Compass Exterior Details and Changes

Generally speaking, the look of the 2019 Jeep Compass is a lot more mature now. They have taken a lot of details form the existing fleet of Jeep cars and molded them all into one. The result is a very handsome looking car with all the necessary elements and details of a family vehicle.

The front end has a steeply racked lower fascia which is important for off-road duties. It comes with the addition of HID projector beam headlights and LED daytime running lights. At the same time, lower fog lights help with providing additional visibility at certain times. They also wrapped wheels in some durable and semi-aggressive tires which will help with driving in various different terrains.

All trims of the 2019 Jeep Compass will have a blacked-out roof with black for the A-, B-, and C-pillars. On the other hand, the D-pillar have the color that matches the body of the car. The rear end of the car includes attractive rump, with a scalloped tailgate and clear-lens taillights. There are some chrome accent strips featured here as well and satin-chrome accent panels. All of this brings to the new second generation being a much handsomer vehicles.

New 2019 Jeep Compass Size

As this is the new generation 2019 Jeep Compass vehicle, everybody is expecting to see changes for the body. Even though they seem apparent and it is only logical that they do decide to change the size of the model, it is still not clear by how much they are planning to change it. The automaker has refrained from something on this and we have predicted that the changes could come, but so far it is even hard to guess based on the pictures.

This only means that if the changes have been made, they are very slight. The current model is 173.0 inches long and with a wheelbase of 103.8 inches. The height is 64.6 inches and the width is 73.8 inches. As far the inside goes the passenger volume is 101 cu ft while there is enough room in the cargo bay to fit anything you need as it gives us a space of 27 cu ft.

2019 Jeep Compass New Color Introduced

The 2019 Jeep Compass is getting a second generation model. As such you can probably predict this car getting new aesthetic. We were hoping to see changes in the design but also in color. The current set of colors is pretty standard and is getting dated.

Even the last update has not brought any new variations which we could call unique. So we are hopeful to get something new here. But there are no news that would excite us and confirm this rumor. There is surely going to be an update when it comes to color variants but for now they are keeping it to themselves. We hope to learn more once the release date gets nearer and they are probably keeping the news for then.

Interior Design of the 2019 Jeep Compass

Moving inside the 2019 Jeep Compass, we noticed a few similarities with the current Jeep models. This is particularly noticeable with the Cherokee interior. There are a few elements translated from this version and it includes also the dash that has a twin-barrel gauge cluster which also includes TFT center display of 3.5- or 7.0-inches. In the center mid area there is the 8.4-inch Uconnect system with dual vents surrounding it. A Uconnect 5.0 comes standard but you can expand to 7.0 inches optionally.

They upgraded interior design with a different look and better materials. The two-tone leather seats come with red contrast stitching. Black leather is standard and there are various features for the front which help with the driver easily using the car. The rear area includes 60/40 style seats. There is quite enough space for the passengers to fit in the back and enjoy the ride. We can say that the entire interior has been designed smarty and functionally. The overall layout is great and there is a lot that you can enjoy with this vehicle.

2019 Jeep Compass Engine Choices

The engine choices for the 2019 Jeep Compass are familiar but are not being carried over. So they will still use  2.4-liter Tigershark four-cylinder turbo engine. But it will not be the completely same engine that was used before. This time they will update it very nicely and upgrade it with 10 hp of more power.

It all results to an upgrade of 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. This has been done with FCA’s MultiAir2 valve train technology which greatly helped to improve the specs of the car. There are also thee transmission choices available with the six-speed manual transmission being standard. You can link it with FWD or 4WD drivetrain systems. Also provided are the six-speed Aisin automatic and FCA’s nine-speed automatic transmission. The former one comes with a FWD while the later includes a 4WD system.

2019 Jeep Compass Top Speed and Acceleration Ability

The updated engine of the 2019 Jeep Compass will also provide slightly different specs. Although we already have a familiar engine on our hands with great potential, they have managed to improve it slightly and get better production out of it. The vehicle is capable of reaching 0-60 mph in time of 9.3 seconds for 4WD models while the FWD ones do it in 9.8 seconds. The top speed for all versions is still limited to 110 mph.

Fuel Economy Ratings

With the newest setup of the 2019 Jeep Compass, we are getting some improvements in comparison to the older one. It is not much, but any advancement in creating a more efficient car is welcomed. This time the rates go to 22 mpg city, 30 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. This EPA rating was released for the 4WD version with a nine-speed automatic and it looks pretty decent. Other official ratings have yet to come out and we expect that the company releases them soon.
